Common Questions About Massage Therapy: Everything You Need to Know Before Your Visit

All new patients are asked to complete our New Patient form. From there, you can explore practitioners currently accepting new patients or join the waitlist for a specific practitioner when their practice is full.

Your first appointment will begin with a conversation and assessment to understand what brings you in and what you’d like to work on. Your RMT will then develop a treatment approach based on your needs, comfort, and goals.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement. Your RMT will provide guidance on what clothing to remove for treatment, and you’ll remain appropriately draped throughout your session.

You don’t need to know before your appointment. Your RMT will discuss your concerns, assess your needs, and recommend techniques and a treatment approach that are appropriate for your goals.

Massage therapy may help reduce pain and muscle tension, improve mobility, and support recovery following certain injuries. Your RMT will assess your individual situation and tailor treatment accordingly.

There isn’t one schedule that works for everyone. The frequency of treatment depends on your goals, symptoms, activity level, and response to treatment. Your RMT can help determine an appropriate treatment plan for you.

Most people can return to their normal activities after treatment, although your RMT may recommend hydration, gentle movement, stretching, rest, or other after-care based on your treatment and individual needs.

RMTs have different areas of experience and additional training, so treatment approaches can vary between practitioners. If you’re interested in a specific technique, such as Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), relaxation,  or deep tissue, ask when booking so we can connect you with an RMT who offers it.
